Year 8 Geography Field Trip

The Geography Department went on their first fieldwork trip of the academic year on the first Friday of term. All four Year 8 forms headed to Amersham Field Centre to learn about rivers and their processes. They were studying the River Chess, a small tributary which eventually flows into the River Thames. The investigation took place at two sites along the river which enabled the children to compare any differences between the source and confluence of the river. A large amount of data was collected which included measuring the differences in the river’s velocity using a hydro-prop. All in all it was a very successful day and the children loved their day of outdoor learning. The children will now collate their findings and write up a detailed project which is submitted to their future schools.
