'Layers of the Earth' Cake Competition

Geography Event

The Year 4s have been learning about the structure of the Earth in Geography this term.

This presented the perfect opportunity for the children to show their creative flair by constructing a cake which illustrated the four different layers of the Earth and of course to calm the sweet tooth of their teachers at this stage of the end of term! There were a number of superb entries including a 'global warming' cake from the North Pole and a volcanic cake with a magma chamber and moving tectonic plates. The standard was particularly high with many perfectly spherical cakes, a foaming moving ocean, and even a liquid outer core! The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their knowledge of each layer as they munched away at their 'mantles'. We are definitely all much more enlightened on the four layers of the Earth and could almost taste the success of a hard term's work in the classroom. Well done everyone, we thoroughly appreciate all your efforts, as did Nala Chapman - the crumbs at least!
