Cricket and Netball tour of South Africa
After much anticipation, 26 pupils and 5 staff made their way to Cape Town for a Cricket and Netball Tour in March, which proved a real success.
The girls managed to win 13 from their 15 games, playing some very good netball along the way in the South African heat, and the boys earned four wins from their seven games as they enjoyed the move from indoor training to outdoor matches for some pre-season training!
Before the tour started the pupils, through a variety of different methods, managed to raise in excess of £12,000 for three charities based out in Cape Town; Red Cross Children’s Hospital, Yabonga and Sport4kids and took great pride in visiting the charities and donating some kit and equipment too.
We were blessed with fantastic weather, despite the strong winds on some days, and enjoyed sights such as Table Mountain at sunset, Robben Island, Fernkloof Nature Reserve, Newlands Cricket Ground as well as a number of matches and social functions with our opposition. The amount of red meat enjoyed was also a highlight for some of the children!
It was a fantastic trip, enjoyed by all and one that will hopefully live long in the memories of the boys and girls lucky enough to have been a part of it.
