Young Shakespeare Company Workshop
Young Shakespeare Theatre Company Visit to Cheam
Delivering Shakespeare to pupils in Year 7 is the difference between lighting their imaginative fuse or making it dull, dead and boring. The Young Shakespeare Company bring an interactive experience to pupils which very much makes Shakespeare accessible and enjoyable. Our Year 7s had a morning experiencing Shakespeare first hand with a performance of a Mid Summer Night's Dream. The confused tale of mixed up plot lines, lovers and fairies working their mischievous magic came alive and with pupils taking on the role of some of the parts there shouldn't have been a dull moment.
The Young Shakespeare Company are good at what they do and the actors pitch Shakespeare for their audience. Puck, it transpired, could break out into rap and also had acrobatic moves worthy of "The Matrix!"
One of the follow up tasks set to pupils was to write a letter to their Head of English saying whether they recommend he book the company for a return visit next year.
On the basis of their responses the Young Shakespeare Company will be making a return visit. Shakespeare is alive and kicking at Cheam!
