Year 7 French trip to Burgundy
French Trip To Burgundy
After Half Term, the second two Forms made their way to Maison Claire Fontaine in central Burgundy to soak up some French language and culture. Although a little overcast at times, nothing could dampen the spirits of the Year 7 boys and girls who threw themselves into all of the activities. After a morning of French lessons in small groups, the children were delighted by town visits, mosaic making, gargoyle making (based on the ones they had drawn in Vézelay), and a high ropes course in tree tops, amongst various other trips. The aim of the trip was to reinforce the language taught at school whilst immersing the children into the culture of Burgundy. A real highlight was visiting the market at Vermenton where all were given a strict budget to purchase lunch which they had to present to the rest of the group. An evening in a French restaurant was also a resounding success and the specialities of the region such as escargots, pain d'épices et anis de Flavigny [mais pas de vin!] were tried [by most]!
Much fun was had by all and the level of French achieved by the end was a vast improvement: brave!
