Art Scholars outing to Southampton City Gallery
On Tuesday 29th November the Year 8 Art scholars and Y7 Art enrichment group went on an outing to the Southampton City Art Gallery.
We went to see the ‘British Art 8’ exhibition which showcases the work of up and coming contemporary artists. Highlights included Jessica Warboys’ giant pigment paintings formed by the tide, a sound and light installation by Turner Prize winner Laure Provost and Lynette Yiadom- Boakye’s amazing memory portrait paintings. We sketched tapestries by Caroline Achaintre and developed these drawings into a mixed media mono print during a workshop session. The exhibition was fascinating and gave us lots of ideas to follow up at school.
