At this age our focus is on the children learning through play.

We recognise the importance of every child as an individual and encourage them to explore, develop and learn at their own pace and with the active support and attention of our staff.

With generous teacher:child ratios and with the emphasis on praise and rewards, the children settle quickly into a lively, fun and stimulating environment. Our classrooms, with their bright, cheerful displays of children’s work, provide a stimulating environment in which to learn through play and experiment.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework in Nursery and Reception classes, specifically focussing on the seven areas of learning, before adopting the National Curriculum in Years 1 and 2. Children begin their full-time education in Reception.

The three prime areas are:
Communication & Language | Physical Development | Personal, Social & Emotional development.

The four specific areas are:
Literacy | Mathematics | Understanding the World | Expressive Arts & Design.

In addition the children also have specialist teachers for French, Music and PE.
